| On Oct15,2018On March 5th (Saturday) at 17.00 in Beskid Hotel the statuette of Honorary Ambassador of the Shtetl of Tsanz will be given to Mr Władysław Żaroffe.
Władysław Żaroffe is an amazing person. Born in Sącz, in 1922, he is a true treasury of knowledge about the history of Nowy Sącz. He was raised in a multicultural city. In 1940 Jan Karski lived at his place and the Żaroffe family played a key part in his mission in the Sądecczyzna region. Mr Władysław, as a soldier of the AK, worked with Zbigniew Ryś, a well-known courier in Sądecczyzna. He was also a witness of the Sącz ghetto liquidation and after the war thanks to his involvement and work, the first plans of the ghetto were made.
During the gala laudation speech and biography of Mister Żaroffe will be presented by Łukasz Połomski.
The Honorary Ambassador title of the Shtetl of Tsanz is awarded in Sądecczyzna region to people and institutions involved in cross-religion dialog and contributing in caring for historical legacy of minorities. A special statuette is awarded by the Shtetl of Tsanz, historical programme of the Nomina Rosae Foundation. Until now we’ve awarded it to: Markus Lustig (2015), Anna Grygiel-Huyryn; Kazimiera and Józef Jarosz (2016), and Moniek Goldfinger (2016).
