On March 6th in the Beskid Hotel the Shtetl of Tsanz for the second time awarded exceptional people with the title of Honorary Ambassador of its ideas and values: Mrs Anna Grygiel-Huryn – a child of the Holocaust and Mrs and Mr Jarosz – Righteous Among the Nations
DAY OF THE RIGHTEOUS – Awarding the title of the Honorary Ambassador of the Shtetl of Tsanz gala
“Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire” – these beautiful words are carved on the medals awarded to people, who saved Jewish people during the war. Today the people who fight for saving the memory of Jewish people of Sącz also save the world. Thanks to them the pre-war shtetl exists in our consciousness.
The Righteous Rememberance Day in Nowy Sącz initiated by Łukasza Połomski and Dariusz Popiela, was an opportunity to award further titles of the Ambassadors of the Shtetl os Tsanz. The Shtetl of Tsanz honored Mrs Anna Grygiel-Huryn (saved from the Holocaust, a person who helps create the Shtetl of Tsanz for years) and Mrs Kazimiera and Mr Józef Jarosz (whose family during the war saved fourteen people from Jewish families, including Mrs Ania, a baby back then. Today Mrs and Mr Jarosz meet with young people to give a unique testimony of remembrance). Łukasz Połomski presented their stories and handed them beautiful statuettes funded by Mr Dariusz Popiela. After these ceremonious and moving moments, the guests had a chance to ask the guests of honor questions and talk with them, which again created an opportunity for emotion, tears and smiling.
