Lectures and workshops in MCK SOKÓŁ
| On Sep05,2018On May 25th and 26th 2015 in the Małopolskie Centrum Kultury SOKÓŁ at 3 Długosza st. in Nowy Sącz open lectures introducing the topics, that Young Ambassadors of Tolerance will be undertaking took place along with workshops linked with them.
May 25th 2015 (Monday) between 10.00 and 12.00 AM in the Multimedial Room a lecture “Who in fact are the Jews?” led by Michał Majewski and Magdalena Prokopowicz from POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw. Then, between 12.15 AM and 2:15 PM in the Sichrawa Room, workshops accompanying the lecture took place, led by Michał Majewski and Magdalena Prokopowicz.
May 26th 2015 (Tuesday) between 10.00 and 12.00 AM in Multimedial room
short introduction into the Shtetl of Tsanz – Young Ambassadors of Tolerance programme took place, along with a talk by mgr Łukasz Połomski about the national ethnicities and stereotypes in Sądecczyzna region before World War II and also a lecture “Live together or live side-by-side? Specificity of relations between ethnic and denominational groups” by dr hab. Dariusz Niedźwiedzki from the European Studies Institute of the Jagiellonian University. After that, between 12.14 and 2.15 PM in the Sichrawa Room, workshops accompanying the lecture took place, led by dr Kinga Gajda and mgr Aneta Pazik (European Studies Institute, Jagiellonian University)
Over 300 young people in total participated in lectures and workshops.

Young Ambassadors of Tolerance in MCK SOKÓŁ
Michał Majewski, graduate of the Institute of History of the Warsaw University, postgraduate student of the Institute of History of Rzeszów University. For many years a partner of cultural institutions and NGOs working in the field of education on multiculturality and history of Polish Jews. Employee of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, curator of the interwar gallery of the permanent exhibition in POLIN Museum and coordinator of Information Centre of POLIN Museum within the Research and Publications Department.
Main research interests: social and economic history of Jews in the 20th century, with particular reference to the reception of said history in modern society.
Magdalena Prokopowicz, graduate of the Institute of History of the Warsaw University, postgraduate student of historical faculty at the Rzeszów University. For many years an employee and partner of publishing departments of cultural institutions connected with history and culture of Jewish people in Poland. Currently an employee of the Research and Publications Department of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Editor of academic publications and lead editor.
Area of scientific and research interests: history of Jewsih people in Poland after 1945, particularly the memory of Jews in the consciousness of Polish society after 1989.
Dr hab. Dariusz Niedźwiedzki, adjunct of the European Studies Institute of the Jagiellonian University.
Education: doktor habilitowany (assistant professor) of sociology – JU 2011; Sociology PhD – JU 1996; sociology magister – JU 1988; economy magister – Kraków Academy of Economy 1986.
Scientific interests: social and cultural factors of construction and reconstruction of social identity, migration processes in Europe, system transformation in post-communist countries, social and cultural conflicts in Europe, cultural and social changes in integrating Europe, social marginalization.
Kinga Gajda, PhD (literary studies and cultural studies), adjunct of the European Studies Institute of the Jagiellonian University.
Academic carrer. 2007 – doctoral defense (doctoral thesis title: Medea today. Deliberations on the category of Other), since 2008 – assistant lecturer in the European Studies Institute of the Jagiellonian University.
since 2011 – adjunct of the European Studies Institute of the Jagiellonian University.
Research interests: intercultural competence, relationship between identity and art, art therapy, dramatic work, identity, creative pedagogics, gender studies.
