A walk in Gorlice
| On Sep05,2018On August 19th a walk in the footsteps of Jewish citizens of Gorlice took place. The guide for Young Ambassadors of Tolerance and others that joined us for the walk was Mr Tomasz Pruchnicki, a passionate of local history.
Our walk was also joined by Mr Jan Fugiel deputy mayor, that spoke before the participants of the walk, underlining, how important was the part the Jewish community played in the history of the town. Together we have lit candles under the pedestal commemorating the extermination of Jews of Gorlice, we’ve visited a Jewish cemetery with tzaddik’s ohel and also a place of mass executuion of about 700 Jewish citizens of the town in Garbacz Forest.
The walk was a part of the Remembrance Week in Sądecczyzna, within which commemorative events took place that served to commemorate the tragic events related to the beginning of the Nazi operation of ghetto liquidations in the region and subsequenti mass executions.
