Labyrinth’s contest resolved!
| On Sep05,2018The “Family 1914–1918” contest organized within this year’s Labyrinth of History was resolved and we have awarded the 4 winners with prizes on November 18th in the SOKÓŁ Lesser Poland Cultural Centre.
The “Family 1914–1918” contest aimed especially at young people, consisted of preparing a literary work in the form of an essay, interview, fabularized story or any other revolving around the topic “Family in the face of war” and which was supposed to be about war experiences of the World War I period, prsonally experienced or told by the family member of the work’s author.
In this year’s Labyrinth contest 1st prize was awarded to Monika Stachoń from 1st High School in Nowy Sącz author of the: “Enough Polish blood has sunk in these fields – a glden horn sounded the wake-up!” WITOLD BARBACKI – beloved son and brother in the fight for freedom and the people. 2nd prize was awarded to Ewelina Migacz from the Stanisław Staszic Professional Schools in Grybów for the work “Between the frontline and home. Family in the face of war 1914–1918”, and the 3rd to Karolina Kowalczyk from the School Complex in Trzetrzewina – Michał Gałązka Middle School, author of the: “Memories about Albin Kac”. Honourable mention was awarded to Sylwia Czech from the Ignacy Łukasiewicz 1st School Complex in Gorlice, for the work “There will be tomorrow”.
All of the contestants received a diplomma and book prizes funded by the Nomina Rosae Foundation Early Culture Garden thanks to a grant received from the Marshal’s Office of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship within the Lesser Poland Patronage programme.
The main goals of the Contest, in accordance with the aims of this year’s Labyrinth was encouraging the young people to relfect upon the influence of wars on the fates of families and interpresonal relationships, about the identity of war experiences felt by completely dfferent people and directing their attention to the importance of acting towards developing and keeping of the culture of peace in today’s world.
