12th Labyrinth of History
| On Oct08,2018From October 19th th 26th we invite to Nowy Sącz for a unique educational programme “Labyrinth of History”. This year’s, 12th Labyrinth entitled “Between obedience and searching. The history of religion” was inspired by the 500th anniversary of the reformation.
The Labyrinth of History is a unique cultural and educational programme dedicated to historyorganized for over 12 years in Nowy Sącz. It’s goal is to deepen the knowledge and support the development of young people as independently thinking, active citizens. Each year the “Labyrinth” touches upon different, interesting and thought-provoking historical subject. Its formula allows the youth to meet selected outstanding representatives of humanist sciences during lectures, panel discussions or joint conference of researchers, teachers and students. The programme gives the opportunity to both take part in educational and in cultural and artistic events as well as allows the youth to actively participate in creating the parts of the programme.
The 12th Labyrinth, planned for 2017 – inspired by the 500th anniversary of reformation – will focus on the history of religion in the aspect related with various reforms introduced throughout the centuries (incl. the Akhenaten’s reforms in Egypt, reasons for the 16th-century reformation in Europe, origins of Christianity in the context of Judaism and current problem of reformations of Islam. within the programme lectures and panel discussion will take place as well as joint popular scientific conference of researchers, teachers and students. We will host i.a. prof. dr hab. Wojciech Gajewski from Gdańsk University, dr hab. Jerzy Ciecieląg from Pedagogical University, dr Piotr Czarnecki from Jagiellonian University, dr Patrycja Sasnal and mgr Łukasz Połomski from Nomina Rosae Foundation.
By tradition of the “Labyrinth of History” within the programe also artistic events will take place. Within this year’s Labyrinth a theatrical play inspired by the story of Doctor Faustus by the Nomina Rosae thatre is planned.
The program will also be accompanied by an exhibtion about the Evangelical community of the city of Nowy Sącz.
