The book is the second part of the story about Łemkowszczyzna, continuation of the book published two years ago “Łemkowszczyzna on both sides of Carpathians”. It includes a hundred years of history of Lemkos living on the northern slopes of Carpathian mountains and their neighbours, Rusnaks, living on the southern side of the mountains. The book describes the period from the 1830s to the summer of 1939. The birth of the Lemko identity and literature as well as activities during the Great War in the region of Beskid Niski and repressions that the Lemkos had to endure in the Thalerhof internment camp were described here. Next chapters describe war cemeteries, such a characteristic view for this land, turning back to eastern church, activists and literary men of the pre-war period, creation of the Apostolic Administration of Łemkowszczyzna and in the end the life of Lemko village in the pre-war years and Lemko craftsmanship, especially stone masonry.
