3rd Golden Afternoon
| On Oct15,2018On September 19th the time machine started in the Śmiłowice Palacetaking all of the guests into the world of the Golden Afternoon. This year our Golden Afternoon was, because of the weather, a little gray, but thankfully, the beautiful costumes of the participants and rich afternoon programme heated the atmosphere.
In the palace park the Wonderland appeared with the inseparable Queen of Hearts, Mad Hatter and March Hare, gypsy with a beautiful tarot deck who revealed before the Enquirers the complex secrets of fate. The palace chapel turned into an Oriental chapel, where on colorful textiles and shiny pillows our ever-present Sheikh was stretched, smoking a water-pipe with our guests. Ladies and girls from the Krynolina group flaunted with their hoops-kirts, some of which were prepared specially for the Godlen Afternon 🙂 At 15.00 we met at the panel discussion about costume TV series and movies, led by Artur Nowrot from the portal Pulpozaur. His guests were: Joanna Kucharska, Olga Jonarska and Maria Molenda. The Jane Austen Dane School hosted the evening ball, art historian and costume researcher Anna Franczyk led the fashion show, and after that joined the all-female jury, that this year traditionally chose the most elegant gentleman. Oriental flavour was strenghtened by the Hameli group presenting the colorful Indian dances. The evening was concluded with a play referring to the 19th-century love of spiritism – three beautiful women – each one of them a powerful psychic – brought the spirits from beyond to the palace. A nice touch was also posing together for a group Golden-Afternoon photo in front of the palace.
We thank all of our guests for being there in the name of the Nomina Rosae Foundation, Jane Austen Dance school and the Krynolina group and we begin our search for the next extraordinary location for the 4th Golden Afternoon!
This year’s picnic was supported by a grant given by the Marshal’s Office of the Lesser-Poland Voivodeship, and the Marshal, Marek Sowa, himself gave it his honorary patronage. Our other patronages came from “Spotkania z zabytkami” and Creatio Fantastica. Thank you very much!
