“People of Nowy Sącz in old photographs”
| On Jun07,2019We would like to cordially invite to the opening of the exhibition “People of Nowy Sącz in old photographs” that will take place July 11, 2019 at 18.00 in the House of History in Nowy Sącz at 21 Pijarska st.
At the exhibition you can see original photographs from lat 19th and early 20th century from the Nomina Roase Foundation collection, from private collections and from collections of J. Szujski Public Library in Nowy Sącz, as well as authentic early 20th-century furnishings of the “Janina” atelier.
In the photographs many citizens of Nowy Sącz of the times gone remain anonymous, but our collection holds images of people well-known like mayor Onufry Trembecki, Stanisław Flis, general Józef Kustroń, dr Tadeusz Kijas owner of the beautiful villa Marya or the Kosterkiewicz family. The exhibition will also present their interesting biographies. We want to show you the unique, mysterious atmoshpere of old photographs and through them also the old Nowy Sącz of the break of 19th and 20th centuries.
For the opening we have planned short lectures: dr Maria Molenda and dr Łukasz Połomski will talk about the period, its atmoshpere, everyday life in Nowy Sącz and old photography studios. And to set the mood we have invited the Jane Austen Dance School to dance for us.
The opening hours of the exhibition in July and August will be announced soon.
