Commemorating the Biegonice execution
| On Aug11,2019On 21st August at 12.00 we meet again in Biegonice, to light the candles at the memorial of poeple who lost their lives here on 21st August 1941.In the Biegonice execution over 40 people were killed. Among them died Bolesław Barbacki, photographer Furmanek or phisician dr Teodor Słowikowski. The barbaric exevution was a terrible blow to the community of Nowy Sącz. The goal of the Germans was to punish intimidate and destroy the local Polish community by striking at its most prominent members. After the war, in 1945 the boidies were moved from the mass grave in Biegonice to the old cemetery in Nowy Sącz.
At noon, 12.00, we will meet in Biegonice and then go to the old cemetery in Nowy Sącz to light candles and lay down flowers in both these places. We encourage anybody to come and join us in commemorating the vicitims of this terrible crime.
