Hence the charm of family albums. Those gray or sepia shadows, phantomlike and almost undecipherable, are no longer traditional family portraits but rather the disturbing presence of lives halted at a set moment in their duration.

For several years now we have been collecting various items related with the history of fashion and the history of Nowy Sącz. Both of these topics meet most often on old studio photographs. We collect old photos passionately and lately our collection was expanded with addition of 20 items. Photographs from 1860s to 1920s taken in the ateliers: Rivoli in Lwów, St. Bizański’s in Kraków, in Vienna at Otto Schmidt’s and in the Adele atelier, in Copenhagen, Munich and Berlin.
Each one is an unique portrait of a person, of fashion and of photographer’s style.
