Concluding Gala Of The Young Ambassadors Of Tolerance Project
| On Oct10,2018Concluding gala of the “Shtetl of Tsanz – Young Ambassadors Of Tolerance” project, took place in the Nowy Sącz Town Hall in the S. Małachowski auditorium on 28.04.2016 r. at 10.00 to 12.00. During the event we’ve screened the movie and the book prepared within the project and awarded the participants with diplomas.
Premiere of the “In Ahasuerus’ footsteps” movie, dir. B.Szewczyk. The movie documents the course of the project, shows the Young Ambassadors of Tolerance as they were visiting places important for the history and culture of Jewish people of Poland (incl. Tarnów, Leżajsk, Lublin) and martyrdom sites (Bełżec, Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp), presents the young people’s reflections and feelings. Presentation of the book “Remembering for the Future. Jewish history of Sąfecczyzna. Contexts, references, reflections”. The release contains articles by Łukasz Połomski about Jewish people in Sądecczyzna and multiculturality of the region; article by Alicja Bartuś about hate speech; article by Maria Molenda about the history of Jewish people in Poland and biograms of Jewish people from Nowy Sącz. The articles are accompanied by photograps from theYad Vashem and National Archive in Kraków Nowy Sącz Branch collections and from private collections. The photographs invoke people from pre-war Nowy Sącz, some of them are from the time of war (incl. photos from Nowy Sącz ghetto)
The “Shtetl of Tsanz – Young Ambassadors of Tolerance” project was carried out thanks to the grant received by the Nomina Rosae Foundation within the “Citizens for Democracy” programme, coordinated in Poland by the Stefan Batory Foundation and Polish Children and Youth Foundation, financed from EEA Funds.
